    7.  I said to the man , " can you tell  me - did  she keep her hair long or short ? "

    Ans . I asked the man whether he could tell me if she kept her hair long or short. 

    8. " Goodbye . " The girl said . The bade goodbye . 

    9. She said , " You are a very gallant young man " 

    Ans .  She said that I was a very gallant  young man .

    10 . " You are a very gallant young man " She said , " but why are you  so serious ? " 

    Ans . She said that I was a very gallant young man asked why I was so serious . 


    11. " Why don't you look out of the window ?"  the girl asked . 

    Ans. The girl asked why I did not look out of the window . 

    12. " didn't you notice ? "  the man asked me 

    Ans.  The man asked me if i had not noticed . 

    13 . The girl said , " I am getting off at Saharanpur . "

    Ans . The girl said that she was getting  off at Saharanpur . \

    14. "  Then I had better  not get too familiar , " I replied ., " Aunts are usually formidable  creatures . " 

    Ans .  I replied that it would be better for me not to get too familiar  and added that aunts were usually  formidable creatures  .

    15. She said to me , " Oh how lucky you are . " 

    Ans . She exclaimed  with joy that I was very lucky  .

    16 " That always happens , " she said , " Do you see any animals ?

    Ans .  She said that such things always happened and asked if I saw any animals .



         Transformation  of Sentence 


    1. As soon as she left the train , she would forget our brief encounter . ( Turn into a negative sentence)

    Ans . No sooner had she left the train , than she would forget our brief encounter. 

    2. This is the best time. (  use positive degree of ' best' )

    Ans. There is no ,other time as good as this .
