    # The narrator thought the girl would forget their brief encounter as soon a she would get down from the train . In the course of time , all kinds of realities would probably compel her to forget this sweet moment in the train .

    2." Then I made a mistake " What ' mistake ' did the speaker make ? Why was it a 'mistake' ? What removed the speaker's doubts ? What did the speaker do then ? 1+2+1+2

    Answer:  The speaker asked  the girl what it was like outside. This was the ' mistake' made by the speaker . 

    # As the speaker was blind , he had to guess everything about the girl . Immediately after asking what it was like outside , it seemed  to him that he had made a mistake .It was a 'mistake' as a man having eyesight could never ask such a foolish question .

    # The speaker's doubts were removed when the girl asked him to look out of the window and see for himself .

    # Then the speaker moved easily along the berth and felt for the window ledge . The window was open and he faced  it , making a pretence  of studying the landscape . 

    3. "She was an interesting girl " -Who said this whom and when ?What else did the person say ? What reply did he get ? 3+1+2

    Answer : The narrator said this to the new passenger when the new passenger broke into the reverie of the narrator saying that the narrator must be disappointed seeing him as he was not attractive  as the companion who had got off at Saharanpur .

    # The person asked if the new passenger had noticed whether the girl, who had left , kept her hair long or short .

    # The new passenger replied that he had not noticed the girl's hair . He had  only noticed her eyes . She had beautiful eyes but they were of no use to her at all as she was completely blind.

    4." Yes , October is the best time ." - Who said this and to Whom ? When did the speaker make this comment ? Why is October the best time , according to the speaker ? 1+2+3

    Answer : The narrator said this to the girl traveller.

    # The girl came to know from the narrator that he was going to Mussoorie .Then she said that she loved the hills of Mussoorie, especially in October . Then the speaker made this comment.

    # According to the speaker , the hills of Mussorie are covered with dahlias in October. Then the sun is delicious , and one can drink a little brandy sitting in front of a logfire at night . Most of the tourists leave the hills at that night ,and therefore , the roads remain quiet  and deserted .


    5."....the girl got up and began to collect her things." - Who is the girl ? When did she get up?Why did she get up to collect her things? What had the speaker thought about the brief encounter he had with the girl? 1+1+1+3=6


    Answer :The girl is a co-passenger narrator, with whom the narrator was engaged in some interesting conversation. 


    #When the train was about to arrive at the Saharanpur station, the girl got up. 

    #She got up to her things as she was to get down at the Saharanpur station. 

    # The speaker thought the girl would forget their brief encounter that they had during their journey together, just after she would deboard the train. However, the encounter  would stay with the speaker for the rest of journey and for some time after.

    # From the remark of  the girl , the narrator came to know that she had a pretty face . He at once appreciated the beauty in a different way . He replied that an interesting face could also be pretty.
